PURPOSE: The Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Orange is to assist the Bishop in his service as the "chief moderator of divine worship in the particular church" (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishop - Ecclesiae Imago - no. 82). In so doing, the Liturgical Commission works closely with the Bishop in the development of the liturgical life of the local Church of Orange and it's parish communities. The Liturgical Commission is to be fully informed on the liturgical activities in the diocese and to suggest and promote practical ways to contribute to the advancement of liturgical life while faithfully following and implementing the liturgical norms of the Church (See Inter Oecumenici). Accountability: The Liturgical Commission listens to the priests, deacons and liturgical leadership of the Diocese in their collaboration with the Bishop in this area of liturgy (See Promoting Liturgical Renewal, no. 8). It advises and makes recommendations to the Bishop, provides support to the Office for Worship and promotes the liturgical life among the People. Areas of Responsibility: Implementation of the actions recommended by the Liturgical Commission is the responsibility of the Office for Worship.
