Hospitals and Health Care

Hospitals and convalescent homes are served by the parishes within whose boundaries they are, with the exception of those medical facilities which have their own chaplains. Pastors have a responsibility for the spiritual care of all their parishioners, including those in hospitals and rest homes. Priests of the parish visit patients in these institutions. Families should notify the local pastor when placing a Catholic patient in an institution in his parish so that arrangements can be made for Confession, Communion and pastoral visits.
